Humboldt Mud Pie has arrived!

Humboldt Mud Pie, you won't be able to resist

Local companies come together to create delicious treat

A lot of good things are happening here at Humboldt Bay Coffee
Company. One of the more exciting things happening around here is the
Humboldt Mud Pie. The Humboldt Mud Pie is the collaborative efforts of
local companies Dick Taylor Chocolates, Natural Decadence and Humboldt
Bay Coffee Company.


"We anticipate anyone who likes coffee or chocolate to love this pie,"
said Natural Decadence owner Milia Lando. "I think that ends up being
roughly all of mankind."

Natural Decadence felt there was a need for a soy-free pie. The
Humboldt Mud Pie was inspired by the partnership Natural Decadence
formed with the Tofu Shop earlier this in 2013.

"This has been such a positive experience for us, we get a quality
product, and we have a chance to support another local business," said
Milia. "This product came together organically through the
relationship that we have with Humboldt Bay Coffee Company and Dick
Taylor Chocolate."

Milia went on to say that the "owners of the companies are inspiring,
and they both make high quality products. We have worked with Humboldt
Bay Coffee Company and wanted to incorporate Dick Taylor Chocolates
into our products because their chocolate is superior to the rest."

Natural Decadence is a line of baked goods that are made without
gluten, eggs, dairy, or nuts. Some of Natural Decadence products are
also made without soy, because they understand the need for naturally
decadent foods that are made to suit many different diets, according
to the Natural Decadence website. Their product line includes pies,
cookies, graham crackers and shortbreads.

The new addition to their menu, the Humboldt Mud Pie, is sure to delight.

"We served our Humboldt Mud Pie at the buyers tour we organized
earlier this year," Milia said. "The Humboldt Mud Pie was a smashing
success, and people have been asking us for the pie ever since. Whole
Foods is excited to have it on their shelves."

To make the Humboldt Mud Pie, Natural Decadence took its naturally
decadent gluten-free fudge cookie and made it into a crust. They then
used Humboldt Bay Coffee Company's Espresso Blend and Natural
Decadence's
home-made gluten-free vanilla extract to make kahlua. Then
they mixed in some Dick Taylor Chocolate, and came up with a decadent
chocolate-kahlua cream-less filling, which is gluten-free, egg-free,
dairy-free, nut-free and soy-free, and taste amazing!

Humboldt Mud Pie will be available in the freezer section of both
North Coast Co-Ops, Eureka Natural Foods, Wildberries Marketplace,
Murphy's in Trinidad, and Chautaukua Natural Foods.
